About Us

Diality, Inc. (Irvine, CA, USA) is a Series-B stage, privately held medical device company with a mission to develop solutions that help improve lives impacted by kidney disease.

The future of dialysis is taking shape, and it looks very different from today’s model of predominately large, centralized dialysis-delivery facilities. New kidney-care models are emerging that seek to improve patient outcomes and quality of life while lowering the overall cost of care.

Patients deserve to be empowered with more choices and more convenient dialysis. Providers need a simpler dialysis system to reduce training time and infrastructure costs. Physicians should have more prescription freedom and better access to patient data. Diality wants to partner with innovative care providers to re-chart the journey for all kidney disease stakeholders.

Osman founded Diality in 2018, the culmination of his extensive experience as a physician entrepreneur. He is a board-certified nephrologist with a passion for home dialysis stemming from years running several dialysis units in the San Diego area. Osman obtained his MD from the University of Glasgow and his MPH from Johns Hopkins.

Daniel Guthrie, MBA

A 20-year veteran of the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, Dan most recently was Chief Commercial Officer for Neuronetics from 2018 to 2020. Following a successful IPO in 2018, Dan grew the commercial organization over 18 months to secure the company’s market leadership within the category. Before Neuronetics, he held senior commercial roles at JADAK, Zimmer Biomet, Medtronic and Fleet Laboratories. Dan earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from American University and his MBA from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Peter Donato, MBA

CFO

Peter brings 35 years of life sciences industry experience to Diality, including CFO roles with Impulse Dynamics, Zomedica. He led several successful corporate exits and IPOs, most notably Standard Bariatrics, Neuronetics, and Assurex Health. Prior to Assurex Health, Peter also held leadership roles with Bovie Medical, Cyberonics, and Iris International. Peter graduated magna cum laude from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University-Columbus and earned his MBA from the University of Akron.

Jahnavi Lokre, MS, MBA

Jahnavi obtained her MS from Texas A&M and her MBA from UCLA. She is a very experienced product developer. She previously worked at Sparton, a contract manufacturing and design company as a General manager of the Irvine office. There she oversaw a multitude of electromechanical and software medical devices and brings a depth of experience in medical devices.

Blaine brings more than 10 years of engineering leadership to Diality. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii where he was nationally recognized for scholastic excellence. Prior to Diality, Blaine honed his passion for medical device product development in senior engineering roles with Becton Dickenson and Vyaire.

Clayton Poppe, MS, MBA

Clayton is an experienced systems engineer and technical manager who worked on the first home hemodialysis machine at Aksys Ltd. Clayton received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University, and both his MS in Systems Engineering and MBA from MIT. Clayton leads the regulatory and quality teams and is excited to be developing the best dialysis machine in the industry.

Dr. Allen R. Nissenson, FACP, FASN, FNKF

Dr. Nissenson is Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where he also served as both associate dean and the director of the dialysis program. He was Chief Medical Officer for DaVita Kidney Care for over 11 years and now serves as an emeritus chief medical officer. He is the past chair of Kidney Care Partners and past co-chair of the Kidney Care Quality Alliance. He serves on the Government Affairs Committee for the Renal Physicians Association where he formerly served as president. As a founder of RMS Disease Management Inc. and RMS Lifeline Inc., Dr. Nissenson actively worked on the development of new models of integrated care management for the chronically ill. Dr. Nissenson has authored over 700 publications in the field of nephrology, dialysis, anemia management, and health care delivery and policy, along with serving as the editor of two dialysis textbooks. He has previously served as president of the Southern California End-Stage Renal Disease Network, chair of the Medical Review Board, and as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow of the Institute of Medicine.

Martin Riediker, PhD

Martin represents the largest shareholder and is a hands-on strategic advisor. Martin has extensive experience working with numerous firms in the Pharma, Chemical, and Med-tech industries. He served in roles including Global Business Head, CTO, and Chief Innovation Officer in the US and Europe. Martin is an Alumnus of ETH Zurich, Princeton University, and Harvard University.

Robert Funari

Robert has spent nearly 50 years in the healthcare industry in both services and medical devices and has a proven track record of delivering shareholder value. He has served as president and CEO of Syncor International and Crescent Healthcare, and was chairman of hemodialysis company NxStage Medical until its acquisition by Fresenius Medical Care. Prior to Syncor, Robert spent nearly 20 years in management with Baxter International and has served as chairman or board member of more than 15 organizations. Robert is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and Cornell University.

Chris Springer

Dr. Springer brings 30 years of biotech and pharmaceutical experience from his time with Vifor Pharma and Amgen. As Chief Strategy Officer for Vifor Pharma, he created a joint renal-drug company between Vifor Pharmaceuticals and Fresenius Medical Care as well as oversaw a series of licensing deals and acquisitions, culminating in the acquisition of Vifor Pharma by CSL for $11.7B. Dr. Springer also sits on the board of several other biotech companies, including Adrenomed, Nagi Bioscience, Quercis Pharma, and HICT.

Kamyar (Kam) Kalantar-Zadeh, MD, MPH, PhD

Kam earned his MD degree from University of Bonn, Germany and MPH and PhD degrees in Epidemiology from University of California Berkeley. He completed his Nephrology fellowship at University of California San Francisco and is board certified in Nephrology, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. An accomplished researcher with over 700 publications, including two invited review papers in New England Journal of Medicine, Kam has served as a principal investigator for the United States Renal Data System (2014-2020) and as President of the International Society of Renal Nutrition & Metabolism. Kam is a standing member of several National Institutes of Health study sections, including kidney and diabetes and is currently Professor and Chief of Nephrology at University of California Irvine.

Gary Limon

Gary is a seasoned healthcare professional with 30+ years of experience as a corporate leader, including 18 years as a senior operations & business development leader in the dialysis space with Gambro and DaVita. Gary’s market knowledge and relationships make him a uniquely skilled advisor in understanding the dynamics of the dialysis business from both the provider and physician perspective.

Shaun Collard

Shaun is an experienced professional in the dialysis, renal and pharma industries. He has over 30 years of senior management experience at various dialysis organizations, including U.S. Renal Care, Vivra, Gambro, DaVita, Satellite Healthcare and US Renal Care. He has led a broad array of functional organizations and has been instrumental in the development of novel care systems for dialysis patients. Shaun received his BS, Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona.

Timothy McNamara, PhD

Tim earned his B.S. and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees at The University of Missouri. He has extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, including leadership positions in Medical Affairs and Clinical Development at Bristol- Myers Squibb, Searle, Amgen, ISTA, and Bausch Health.
